Are you ready for a transition?
What kind?
Do you remember back when we first got together? I mentioned that I remarried to a woman who had two daughters?
Right.
Well, that’s when I moved to Baltimore County.
Why was that?
Because the two daughters were in school there. Sixth and seventh grades. And they had friends there. And I thought it would be too much of a disruption to take them away from all that. And also to have this strange man suddenly moving into their home.
Probably right. How did it go?
Well, it was a little rough at first. “Who is this guy? We used to have our mother all to ourselves. And now he’s taking over.” That sort of thing.
Got it.
But I think they came to realize after a while that I wasn’t there to steal away their mother. Rather, I was there to support their mother and them as best I could.
So it worked out okay?
I think so. Today I consider them my two best friends.
